Looks like a good basic series. With knowledge like this, only takes a few
minutes to turn the legs from a pair of old jeans into stuff sacks, for
example. Worn out leather & suede jackets (if material thin enough for
machine) usually has good sections to make pouches, & such. With a little
basic knowledge & a sewing kit, can often make field repairs, instead of
trying to make-do with safety pins.

they? Around these parts we call them “Thread Injectors.” = )
