The soft, pliable waterproof/breathable nylon ripstop fabric yields surprising durability for its weight and protects against monsoon-season precip and summit ridge gusts. We've simplified the design, eliminated the pit-zips and handwarmer pockets - our ambassadors didn't want 'em - and gave it a single exterior zippered chest pocket that doubles as a stuffsack (with reinforced clip-in loop). Details include sonically welded seams with the narrowest possible tape, watertight zippers, a microfleece-lined neck and chin and cuffs that adjust with minimalist hook-and-loop closures. A single pull adjusts the helmet-compatible hood (with laminated visor) and a drawcord hem blocks out spindrift backdraft. Slim fit for technical use over light-to-medium layers. Compressible and resilient, this reversible Regulator fleece hoody is made of a new, exclusive Polartec High Loft polyester fleece that wicks moisture, dries quickly and caches heat when temperatures plunge. Worn pile side out, it has two handwarmer pockets and an internal zippered chest pocket; worn smooth side out, the chest pocket becomes external. The R1 cuffs have spiral-seam construction and are easy to push up; elastic binding at the close-fitting hood, the hem and the handwarmer pockets further seals in warmth. Sonic/Stitch seam construction reduces bulk on the center-front zipper; a soft, kissing-welt center-front zipper garage is easy on the chin; offset shoulder seams stay clear of pack straps.
