Today we’re previewing the Gregory Baltoro 75 Pack. … .. Check out our web site for more information concerning everything seen on our Channel including re… Video Rating: 4 / 5
Hey Luke,
Great preview of a great pack! It was kinda hard to watch for me because I
just sold my Baltoro 75 after using it only twice, once to Twin Rivers
Nevada and once to Great Basin National Park. I’m a huge fan of Gregory
packs and I absolutely loved this pack but sometimes circumstance dictates
we let something we love go. On the Great Basin trip I used the fanny pack
to stow fishing gear for hike from base camp up to a little lake where I
caught one hungry trout after another. It was awesome! Though I’ve never
been a huge fan of fanny packs it worked well for what I needed it for.
Also love the angled bottle holder, how many time have we struggled to get
a water bottle back in pocket after taking a drink? With this pack it is no
problem what so ever. Thanks again for the preview. I’m looking forward
to buying this pack again when I can!
I’m stuck on either this pack or the Osprey Atmos 65. I really like the
suspension on this pack and the load that you can put it it, I also like
the water bottle pocket and the belt pocket, I also feel like the materials
might be bit more durable than the Osprey. The only thing with this pack is
that it is a lot heavier than the Osprey and would really like something
lighter as I’m not a huge guy and light the idea of lightweight
backpacking. Hope to here your opinion, Thanks!
did you really spend $300 + on a backpack? I am not judging im simply
asking. I really want to get into backpacking im looking for a big enough
bag where i can hold as much gear as i need for 72 hours. Or for a weekend
camping trip. Also looking to not spend a lot of money on it but yet i want
it to be non cheap and have some good features. Can you give me some
advice?
I own this pack as well! Although it’s a tad on the heavy side, it’s
durability and several functions make the weight worth it. The suspension
system and padding make any weight comfortable to carry! I have never used
the “fanny pack” from the top part of the pack but I will more than likely
use it. I am able to get a base weight down to 25 lbs with the pack but
including fuel (a 4oz fuel canister for the msr pocket rocket). Though with
food (5 days of good eatn) and water (2.5 liters), my pack will weight
about 36lbs altogether. I would say that’s impressive!
Not a fan of the ultralight because the bivy sack or rain cover will not
“work” in the Pacific Northwest during a torrential downpour…even during
the summer. I would rather bring myself a lightweight tent and cushy
sleeping bag.
I also got the Large rain cover. I am able to not only cover my pack
(medium) and the thermarest solite pad as well.
Great preview, thanks my friend.

Real nice job on the preview, when is the re-view?! looking forward to
that. a big body Gregory man… Massif – Whitney – Baltoro seems very
logical ;)

I know you like to read on your adventures, so I recommend the book “the
Darkest Path”. It’s a very good read
