Winter’s Chill – The Layering Process – The Outdoor Gear Review
20 Oct 2014, Posted by Adventure Guide Staff in Gear News
It’s cold out there but it doesn’t mean you can’t get out and enjoy yourself. It’s all about Layering! Today we’re going over some Layering Options! … … … Video Rating: 5 / 5
Thanks Luke, great video, very informative. Would you recommend buying
larger boots/shoes for winter to make them more comforting to wear with the
extra socks?
Got some down pants at Taiga out of Canada, pricey but crazy warm, also
down boots. Always a good idea to wear a shell over the down, not
necessarily to keep it dry, but to protect it from rips and snags. Usually
it’s so cold when I put the down on, I don’t have to worry about moisture.
Thanks for the video, always great. In reference to the Marmot Scree pants,
did you purchase a size larger (waist/inseam) in order to layer without
binding too tight or did you stick to your normal size? I like those pants
and want to order some.
I’m realizing that the majority of my clothing is cotton lol… Luckily I
live in Arizona so I’m not dealing with freezing temperatures. But, it’s
good to know for when/if I chose to hike or camp when the temperatures are
lower. Thanks for posting this!
Luke…What’s up? Enjoyed your vid! Does that little amount of clothing
really keep you warm? Do you need to keep moving to do so, or can you be
static for a while while remaining “comfortable”? When you said use gators
for higher snow is that like snake gators? Thanks… P.S. Would that gortex
military surplus desert outer layer be a good fit for this kind of thing?
Very appropriate content as winters seem to be getting colder. Nothing like
getting prepared. Just ordered some nylon outer hiking pants and some
gaiters today. Great vid Luke.
hi there, love your videos, I have a question , will running tigs do the
job? or it is a awful idea?
Hey! Luvely dawg!

Thanks for that. I was not aware of the issues with cotton so will avoid in
the future.
